641. An exceptionally rare Killarney Wood Davenport, profusely inlaid with castle, cottages, fern leaves, shamrocks, acorns, Irish Wolfhounds, Irish harp and the Irish round tower. This is a unique example of this rare brand of Irish furniture. The centre doors conceal four well fitted drawers, themselves flanked by turned and carved columns with shamrocks in relief, mid Victorian. Auctioneers Note: The Irish State has gone to great trouble to secure a collection of notable Killarney wood furniture at Muckross House in Killarney. The writer having on occasions inspected this furniture is of the belief that this piece equals and maybe surpasses any piece within the collection of the State at Muckross and had no hesitation in coming to the conclusion that its estimate of €22'000 - €30'000 is both justified and reasonable. €22000~30000

Auctioneers Note: This is a very high quality copy of an early Regency piece, the cabinet maker who constructed this piece of furniture went to great lengths in order to replicate the original piece even down to the darkening and distressing of the mirror and indeed his own quality of workmanship at least matching those of the Regency period. . €600~800
